  • Why drive with Roadrunner Freight?

    Roadrunner Freight supports true Owner Operators. Our model is structured to provide you with resources to help you be a successful Owner Operator, but as a business owner, you make all the decisions for your business.
  • Can I bring my pets with me?

    Yes, Owner Operators are allowed to bring one pet.
  • How much will I get paid?

    We pay per practical mile plus the fuel surcharge. Mileage rates vary depending on the lanes you’re running but can range anywhere from $0.65-$2.00 plus fuel surcharge. If you have hazmat, you will receive an extra $0.10 per mile on placarded loads. Teams will receive an extra $0.06 per mile on all miles.
  • How often do I get paid?

    Settlement is run every Friday through direct deposit.
  • How long will I be away from home?

    You determine your home time and it will vary based on the revenue you’re looking to generate. As a Local LTL Owner Operator or Company Driver, you’re home daily. Long haul and regional Owner Operators will make their own decisions on how many miles they run before going home.
  • What certifications do I need to drive with Roadrunner Freight?

    Minimum of 6 months tractor trailer experience, CDL-A

  • Do you train new drivers?

    No, at this time we do not offer training.
  • Do you have automatics?

    We have both manual and automatic trucks. Please reach out to a recruiter for availability.
  • Can I bring my spouse with me?

    Yes, additional riders are allowed. The minimum age requirement is 12 & above and additional insurance must be purchased prior to having a rider for a small fee.
  • Do you require hazmat?

    No, but hazmat certifications are preferred. You can earn an extra $.10 per mile when you haul hazmat loads as well!
  • Do you offer medical benefits?

    Yes, we do offer benefits to company drivers. Owner Operators have the option to purchase insurance through outside vendors.
  • I’m an Owner Operator. Is there forced dispatch?

    No, Owner Operators do not have forced dispatch.
  • Is there trailer rental?

    Yes, we have a trailer pool program that allows you to utilize our trailers. The cost of trailer pool rental is $235/week and Roadrunner Freight covers all preventative maintenance and roadside assistance that does not involve negligence.
  • Do you offer fuel discounts?

    Yes, we offer $0.20/gallon off at Love’s and $0.17/gallon off at TA and Petro if utilizing our fuel card.
  • Do you offer maintenance discounts?

    Maintenance discounts are offered through our preferred vendors. TA is our repair provider and includes in-shop, on yard and on-road maintenance. With adequate escrow funds, Roadrunner Freight will pay your bill to ensure you receive the full discounts and warranties with our agreement and then will collect the funds from your escrow. In addition, we have a National Account with Goodyear. Using this option, you will receive:
    • Discounted national account pricing
    • 7 Year warranty on casing
    • Free tire inspections & pressure checks at any Goodyear Commercial Truck Tire Center
    • An entire line of tires from Kelly to Goodyear that you can select from
    • Nationwide 24/7 support for any warranty issues
    • Nationwide 24/7 road call support
    • Pre-pay bills with adequate escrow balance
  • Do you offer plates?

    Yes, we offer plates for long haul Owner Operators. We do not offer plates to Local LTL Independent Contractors.
  • Do you have a fuel card?

    Yes, we use EFS.
  • What kind of ELD do you use?

  • Do you pay for tolls?

    We do not, but we have a program in place to offset toll costs.
  • Do you offer insurance? What do you cover?

    We cover cargo insurance. You can elect to get physical damage, occupational accident and bobtail insurance all through Roadrunner Freight.
  • Do you offer lease purchase?

  • Where do you run?

    With 29 terminals across the country, we cover a lot of ground!
  • Are you reefer or dry van?

    Dry van.
  • What kind of freight do you haul?

    Freight of all kinds!
  • Do you have 24/7 dispatch?

    Yes, we do.
  • Do you have a truck age limit?

    Yes, the truck must be newer than a 2010. If it is a 2010, then the engine must be newer than 2010 to meet CARB compliance.
  • Do we pay detention?

    We offer detention pay on a case by case basis. We understand how valuable time on the road is, so we make every effort to ensure you're compensated appropriately for these situations.
  • Are there any dedicated lanes?

    While we do not have specific, dedicated lanes, our recruiters work hard to match Owner Operators up with routes that provide them with the most home time possible. We encourage you to call our recruiters to discuss your opportunity.
  • Can I run under my own authority?

    No, however, you can apply to be an outside carrier for us. In that case, you would be responsible for carrying all your own insurances etc. Please contact our recruiters for more information.
